Shell Eco-marathon
The Shell Eco-marathon takes place in Nogaro, France. For 25 years Shell has invited teams from all over the world to test ideas which practically apply the concept of sustainability with regard to our natural resources.
To drive as far as possible using the least amount of energy: that is the Shell Eco-marathon challenge!
Vehicles utilizing various different energy sources such as gas, Diesel, fuel cell, natural gas, liquified gas and solar energy compete in different categories. The final award is granted for the vehicle which consumes the least energy. Currently the record is 5.385 km on the equivalent energy contained in one liter of gas. This record is held by the Pac Car-Team from ETH Zürich.
Teams from schools, colleges, technical universities as well as regular universities can participate. The 2007 Shell Eco-marathon is held from the 11th to 13th of May in Nogaro, France.
